On Wednesday, March 8, the European Union countries will probably reach a political consensus on the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur, in a comment to Reuters.
According to him, the joint purchase of ammunition will be one of the key issues of the meeting of the defense ministers of the EU countries on March 8.
He noted that although he expects a political consensus on the purchase of ammunition, several key issues remain the subject of discussion. One of them is the method of joint procurement.
Pevkur believes that the countries of the European Union cannot rely in this matter on the funds that have already been allocated for military aid to Ukraine.
"We need a clear consensus that new money should be allocated for this initiative," the minister emphasized.
