The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia reported on the meeting of the head of the department, Sergei Lavrov, and his Chinese counterpart, Qin Gan, on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in India, saying that Russia and China discussed the war in Ukraine and criticized what they called "blackmail and threats" against other countries.
"Lavriv and Qin Gang discussed the current situation around Ukraine, including the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China regarding the political settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and discussed a number of relevant international topics," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in particular.
As noted, "a high degree of closeness and coincidence of positions on all the discussed issues was noted."
"Unanimous rejection of attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, imposing unilateral approaches through blackmail and threats is expressed," said the statement, which did not specify to whom such a message was addressed, but AFP noted that the criticism refers to the West.
