The German defense concern Rheinmetall has started supplying Ukraine with SurveilSPIRE automated reconnaissance systems, which are mainly used to monitor large areas of terrain with as few personnel as possible.
This was reported by the press service of Rheinmetall.
The intelligence systems that Ukraine will receive are known as SurveilSPIRE. They consist of mobile observation towers with day and night video surveillance equipment, mini-drones with autopilot and a control system. The delivery also includes vehicles.
Rheinmetall is reportedly working on the project with Estonian systems maker DefSecIntel. It is also stated that the value of the order amounts to a double-digit amount of millions of euros. At the same time, the delivery has already started.
SurveilSPIRE observation towers can be loaded onto trailers and quickly transported to their work area. Assembly requires three people, and the work is fully automated.
The system includes wireless communication channels (4G and Starlink) for video transmission to a mobile command post. Solar panels provide long-term operation without power cables or a fuel source. The system is based on self-piloted reconnaissance drones that carry out patrols and flights to perform certain tasks. This allows you to check detected threats, and the operator can initiate the necessary countermeasures.
It will be recalled that earlier the mass media reported that the Ukrainian defenders could receive Skykit autonomous intelligence centers.
