The European Union will continue to support Ukraine in the political, economic, humanitarian, financial and military spheres. The EU also assured that they will continue to increase collective pressure on Russia to stop the aggressive war. This is stated in the statement of the members of the European Council.
"The Ukrainian people showed the world that the future of Ukraine should be decided by Ukrainians. No country has the right to invade a neighboring country or violate its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This aggression is a crime against the world. It violates the UN Charter, UN principles and human values. We cannot and should not remain indifferent to such crimes," the statement said.
It is noted that Russia systematically attacked civilians, destroyed cities and attacked Ukrainian identity.
"We are determined to ensure that all those responsible for war crimes and other grave crimes committed in connection with Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine are brought to justice. "Russia has weaponized food and energy, irresponsibly made nuclear threats and spread false rumors of war," the statement said.
The members of the European Council noted that Russia's aggressive war and its consequences had a significant impact on many countries, in particular, on the world economy, food and commodity prices. The European Union, as stated, will continue to work with partners to mitigate these consequences and provide assistance to the countries and people most in need.
"The European Union and its partners acted quickly and unitedly. And we will continue to firmly and completely stand in solidarity with Ukraine and its people for as long as it takes. All Ukrainians deserve to live in the world and freely choose their destiny. Ukraine is part of our European family. Ukrainians expressed their desire for a future in the European Union, and we recognized this by granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country. The choice of the people of Ukraine is the choice of peace, democracy, the rule of law, respect for fundamental rights and prosperity," the statement reads.
In addition, it is emphasized that the EU will continue to support Ukraine in the political, economic, humanitarian, financial and military spheres.
"The European Union will continue to support Ukraine in the political, economic, humanitarian, financial and military spheres, including through rapid coordinated procurement in European industry. We will also support the recovery of Ukraine, for which we will try to use frozen and immobilized Russian assets in accordance with EU and international law. We will continue to increase collective pressure on Russia to end its aggressive war. To this end, we will adopt the tenth package of sanctions and take steps against those who try to circumvent EU measures," the statement said.
The statement also states that the EU supports the "Peace Formula" of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
"Together with our international partners, we will ensure that Ukraine wins, observes international law, restores peace and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, restores Ukraine and restores justice. Until this day, we will not calm down," the statement emphasizes.
