Russia wants war, not peace. Kuleba calls to support the Ukrainian resolution at the UN General Assembly

The situation at the front and the ongoing offensive of the occupiers prove that Russia wants war, not peace. With this in mind, the world should unite and support the draft resolution of the General Assembly, which emphasizes the need to achieve a comprehensive, just and durable peace as soon as possible in accordance with the founding Charter of the United Nations.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his speech at the 11th extraordinary session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, also called on the member states of the UN to support the draft resolution of the General Assembly "Principles of the UN Charter underlying a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine" , because this document will contribute to joint efforts to end the war started by the Russian Federation, as well as to protect the fundamental principles of international law.

The Minister recalled the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine: murders of civilians, torture and rape, indiscriminate shelling of residential areas and energy infrastructure, forced deportation of thousands of Ukrainian children.

According to him, Ukraine's refusal of the legal right to self-defense would mean that these crimes would spread to the entire territory of our country.

"No one should be misled by Russia's empty calls for negotiations. The situation on the front lines proves that the Russians want war, not peace. There are still countries that for various reasons do not want to side with Ukraine. Okay, then stand up for the UN Charter "Stay on the side of international law. These are our common rules," Kuleba said.

In addition, the minister outlined the key points of the peace formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, which embodies the vision of our country to ensure a comprehensive, sustainable and long-term peace and restore global security.

Kuleba also called the calls of some states to stop supplying Ukraine with weapons and ammunition inappropriate, because the country that was attacked, according to the UN Charter, has the right to self-defense.

"Calls to stop the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine are extremely inappropriate. The world will drown in chaos if borders are allowed to be changed by force under the guise of political expediency. With the support of the world, Ukraine can restore its territorial integrity. This will deprive Russia and other aggressors of the desire to attack other countries." - he said.

It will be recalled that Zelenskyi said that Ukraine will present a resolution on a just peace in the country at the site of the UN General Assembly.

At the same time, according to the media, the UN General Assembly is ready to support the Ukrainian resolution on peace.
