Shmyhal discussed with Biden the introduction of sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal discussed the introduction of sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry with US President Joe Biden during his visit to Kyiv. He announced this during the government meeting.

"At the same time, with the help of Ukraine's economy, it is important to continue putting pressure on Russia's economy. Therefore, anti-Russian sanctions became another point of yesterday's negotiations. Now it is important for us that the nuclear industry of Russia and the state company Rosatom cease to be a wallet for the continuation of this war. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of imposing sanctions against Russia's nuclear industry. Therefore, we expect new sanctions in this direction - both from the United States and from the European Union," Shmyhal said.

In addition, he said that during the meeting with President Biden and his team, many issues related to cooperation, including financial support to Ukraine, were discussed in a broad format.

"The issue of rapid recovery, for which the United States is directing 1.5 billion dollars, as well as the allocation of more than 1 billion dollars to support the energy industry of Ukraine and Moldova, was raised. We also expect to receive the first tranche of the announced budget aid of $10 billion as soon as possible. This is an important element of our financial stability," Shmyhal said.

Zelenskyі called for the introduction of sanctions against Rosatom for nuclear blackmail of Russia.
