Romania summoned the Russian ambassador to the carpet: what happened

The Russian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania. This happened because of the scandal with the Russian Center of Culture and Science in Bucharest, which promotes the narratives of the aggressor country.

This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

"On February 21, 2023, at the request of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bohdan Auresku, the ambassador of the Russian Federation in Bucharest was summoned to the headquarters of the IAEA at the level of the state secretary for strategic issues. It was also decided to suspend the activities of the Russian Center of Culture and Science in Bucharest," the message reads.

As explained in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian ambassador was reminded of the repeated situations when the Russian "Center" deliberately participated in actions of distortion of reality and historical truth.

It was noted that recently, after the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, "the provocations intensified and acquired new accents, especially sharpness."

That is, instead of fulfilling its functions, the Russian "Center" turned into a tool of propaganda, disinformation and justification of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

In this regard, Romania decided to suspend its activities on the territory of the country, this restriction will last at least until August 20, 2023.
