The official noted that each partner of Ukraine "needs its own recipe" in the context of this discussion.
The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, gave details about the work of the Ukrainian team on the creation of a special tribunal for Russian war criminals.
According to him, now it is not about the "idea" of creating such an international body, but about the mechanisms of its implementation. Yermak stated that based on the results of the meeting of the working group on February 13, it is possible to speak of obvious progress in this matter on the part of the allied countries.
"Today, practically all of them say that they are ready to take part in the creation of the tribunal. We are no longer discussing the probability of the idea itself, but the specific mechanisms of its creation," he emphasized.
Yermak stated that Ukraine is now focused on preparing specific decisions as part of the official promotion of the project of creating a special tribunal on international platforms.
"You need to find your own recipe for each country," he clarified.
We will remind you that after the large-scale invasion of the Russian army into Ukraine and the recording of mass crimes against Ukrainians, which the occupiers continue to commit, Ukraine put forward the idea of creating a special military tribunal for the Kremlin regime, the occupiers and all those involved in the invasion of Ukraine.
This idea was supported by the main partners of Ukraine. As the former special representative of the US in Ukraine, Kurt Volker, noted, there is currently no working mechanism in the world for criminal prosecution of the leadership of the Russian Federation.
Therefore, the international community should create a special tribunal, as was the case with the conviction of SS troops in World War II. Then they were tried at the Nuremberg Tribunal.
This discussion was also supported by the Netherlands, offering to create a special tribunal on its territory.
The German government also took a clear position on this issue. Recently, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Berbock, said that the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, should be sentenced directly at a similar court.
