The Office of the President of Ukraine appealed to the participants of the World Economic Forum in Davos to jointly promote the creation of a special tribunal for the Russian Federation for its crimes against humanity as soon as possible.
This was emphasized by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak at the opening of the Ukraine is You project in Davos on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum.
"Now more than ever, we need consolidated international support so that the UN General Assembly passes a resolution and creates this tribunal," Yermak said.
He emphasized that a special tribunal to hold the Russian Federation accountable for war crimes in Ukraine and a mechanism for it to pay compensation for damage are the most realistic ways to punish the aggressor and prevent the recurrence of such wars in the world.
"Therefore, their practical implementation requires greater and as soon as possible consolidation of the civilized world," the head of the President's Office urged.
Yermak reminded that Russia was recognized by the UN General Assembly as an aggressor state. However, since the International Criminal Court does not have the necessary jurisdiction, there is an urgent need to create a special tribunal that will be able to work much faster and more efficiently and in two or three months to accuse of crimes against humanity. At the same time, he emphasized that all 80,000 crimes committed by Russians should be assessed accordingly.
In addition, the head of the President's Office noted that the issue of compensation for the enormous damage caused by Russia is no less important. According to him, the UN General Assembly has already agreed to use the concept of compensation, which provides for the creation of an international register of losses and the corresponding Evaluation Commission and Compensation Fund. At the same time, the Fund should be financed by Russian assets, in particular, gold and foreign exchange reserves.
"We appeal to our partners to make changes to national legislation to enable such confiscation and transfer of assets to the Fund," Yermak urged.

We will remind that the World Economic Forum started in Davos on January 16, which this year is being held without the participation of the Russian delegation.
