Speed saves lives: Stoltenberg on the eve of "Ramstein" urged to speed up with help to Ukraine

At a briefing, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that tomorrow, February 14, during the next "Ramstein" and the meeting of the Alliance's defense ministers, which will be attended by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, the urgent needs of Ukraine on the battlefield will be discussed. He stated that Russia is preparing new offensive actions in the country, so military aid should be provided as soon as possible.

Stoltenberg said that NATO defense ministers will meet this week at an "important moment for transatlantic security" to decide on strengthening the protection of important underwater infrastructure, as well as strengthening support for Ukraine. According to him, during the meeting, Kyiv's urgent needs for weapons to counter Russian aggression will be resolved.

"It is clear that we are in a logistics race. Key assets such as ammunition, fuel and spare parts must arrive in Ukraine before Russia can see the initiative on the battlefield. Speed will save lives," he said.

In addition, he emphasized that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is not ready to end the war in Ukraine.

"Putin is not preparing for this, he is launching new offensive actions, so we must provide Ukraine with what it needs to win and achieve a sustainable world... If Putin wins in Ukraine, the message to him and other authoritarian regimes is that power is rewarded. This would make the world more dangerous, and all of us more vulnerable," the Secretary General reiterated.
