On February 10, the surveillance system of the Romanian Air Force detected a Russian missile flying towards Ukraine. However, it did not cross Romanian airspace.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Romania.
"On Friday, February 10, the aerial surveillance system of the Romanian Air Force detected an aerial target launched from the Black Sea from a ship of the Russian Federation, near the Crimean Peninsula, most likely a cruise missile," the message reads.
According to the BBC, the missile entered the airspace of Ukraine, and then crossed the border of Moldova. However, it never flew over Romania.
"The closest point of the target's trajectory to the airspace of Romania was recorded by radar systems approximately 35 km northeast of the border," the defense ministry said.
To control the airspace, Romania took two planes into the air.
We will remind, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi said that during the massive shelling, two Russian missiles flying from the Black Sea to Ukraine crossed the borders of Moldova and Romania.
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova has already confirmed Zalzhuny's information. They said that they are closely monitoring the situation in the region and "strongly condemn" the violation of Moldova's airspace.
