Earthquake in Turkey: four Ukrainians were injured, two probably died

As a result of the earthquake in Turkey, two citizens of Ukraine probably died. According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oleg Nikolenko, the embassy is currently verifying the information.

 

 "As the Turkish side reported, two citizens of Ukraine were probably killed as a result of the earthquake. The embassy is now verifying this information and taking measures to identify the victims," ​​Nikolenko said.

 

 According to him, it is also known about 4 injured Ukrainians.

 

 "They received minor injuries, there are no threats to their lives, they do not need hospitalization. The victims are provided with temporary housing and food," added the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

 In total, diplomats have already searched for 38 citizens, they are cooperating with the Turkish rescue services to find the remaining 19 Ukrainians who have not been contacted.

 

 In addition, as Nikolenko reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to send Ukrainian consuls to the city of Gaziantep. Diplomats of the embassy will be able to arrive in the disaster zone as soon as the situation allows due to the declared state of emergency in Turkey.

 

 "The consuls will coordinate on-site assistance to the citizens of Ukraine, deliver them warm clothes and essential items. On the way back, the embassy plans to take away those Ukrainians who wish to move to other regions of Turkey on their way back," the MFA spokesman summed up.

 

 Turkey was shaken by a powerful earthquake on February 6, which was felt in neighboring countries. Syria was also significantly affected. Earthquakes then repeated, and aftershocks of a weaker force were also felt. The number of dead exceeded 4,800 people.

 

 According to the relevant order of the Cabinet of Ministers of February 7, Ukraine is sending a team of 87 rescuers to Turkey to help overcome the consequences of the devastating earthquake in the southeast of the country.

 

 The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyі, signed a decree on the provision of humanitarian aid to the Republic of Turkey.
