The EU plans that Volodymyr Zelenskyi will take part in the summit of the leaders of the member states this week.
This was reported by the Financial Times with reference to people informed about the relevant plans.
Sources of the publication emphasized that security problems could disrupt the visit of the Ukrainian president.
According to the proposed plan, Zelenskyi is to speak at a special session of the European Parliament, which raises security concerns.
Last week, the Ukrainian leader received the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel, in Kyiv.
"Frankly, there are big risks if I go somewhere. That's true," Zelenskyi told reporters on Friday when asked about a possible visit to Brussels.
The trip, if it happens, would be Zelenskyi's second visit outside of Ukraine since the full-scale invasion of Russia almost a year ago. In December, he visited Washington.
On Thursday, 27 EU leaders will gather in Brussels for a summit, where the planned topics for discussion are Ukraine, migration and the bloc's reaction to the law on reducing inflation in the United States.
As reported, Zelenskyi allows a possible personal visit to Brussels to thank for Ukraine's support, if there is a chance to get long-range weapons and if the security situation allows the visit.
