Ireland calls for increased support for Ukraine in response to Russian aggression

Ireland has made an urgent call to double support for Ukraine, as it claims that Russia will not stop its aggressive ambitions and actions unless effective measures are taken. This was announced by Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar before the EU summit in Brussels, as quoted by The Independent.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the EU countries should continue to strengthen and expand their support for Ukraine in various areas, including political, military and financial.

"We have a very strong conviction that Ukraine has the right to defend its sovereignty, independence and democracy... If we do not stop Putin in Ukraine, he will not stop there. So this is a threat to all of us. Ireland will continue to support Ukraine until it wins," he said.

The prime minister said that some countries would like to divert attention from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"With all the other things that are going on in the world, not least in the Middle East, it would be very easy to lose focus on the war in Ukraine and it is very important that we don't," he said.
