Anton Hofreiter, the head of the Bundestag Committee on European Affairs, spoke in favor of Ukraine joining the EU in the next 5-6 years.

 It is reported that Anton Hofreiter spoke in favor of Ukraine joining the EU in the next five to six years. According to him, it would be "quite unrealistic" to join earlier.

 But he was also of the opinion that it should not be ten years.

 Hofreiter said it was difficult to imagine a country still at war being accepted into the EU. But negotiations can already be held. According to him, it depends on what Ukraine does to fulfill the conditions of accession.

 At the same time, Hofreiter noted problems with corruption, the issue of the rule of law and media freedom.
