Armenia plans voluntary conscription of women for military service

Armenia plans to start a voluntary call for women to military service, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said. This is reported by Anadolu.

"In the near future, we plan to introduce a completely new institute of women's voluntary temporary military service," Pashinyan said in a statement on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the creation of the Armed Forces of Armenia.

According to him, the government has carried out "large-scale reforms in the army".

In the near future, an officer higher school will be created, which will become an educational center that meets the best modern standards, and will become a "forge for the formation of a new class of officers", the prime minister noted.

The government is also taking measures to "equip our army with modern weapons and equipment, trying to encourage local manufacturers as much as possible," Pashinyan added.
