Russian units probably carried out localized, test attacks near Orekhov and Vugledar, but it is highly unlikely that Russia actually made any significant gains.
This is stated in the daily report of British intelligence.
It is noted that over the past six days, Russian Internet commentators have claimed that Russian troops have achieved significant success, breaking through Ukrainian defenses in two areas: in the Zaporizhzhya region near Orekhov and 100 km to the east, in Donetsk region, near Vugledar.
"There is a real possibility that Russian military sources are deliberately spreading disinformation in an attempt to show that the Russian operation is gaining momentum," the statement said.
Earlier, British intelligence reported that the Russian Federation completed the training of the 2nd Guards Motorized Rifle Division from the 1st Guards Tank Army in Belarus, which suffered significant losses at the beginning of the war.
According to intelligence estimates, the division now consists mainly of mobilized personnel who operate old equipment taken from warehouses.
It has also been reported that Russia's intentions to expand the army indicate that the Kremlin sees a period of potential risks of armed conflict ahead, but organizing such an expansion will not be easy.
