Russian occupying forces are unsuccessfully trying to break through the defenses of Ukrainian defenders and capture Soledar, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar said at the briefing, adding that the approaches to the city are actually littered with corpses of Russian soldiers.
"The enemy, trying unsuccessfully to break through our defenses and capture Soledar, is suffering heavy losses. Today, the approaches to the city are actually littered with the bodies of the slain Putin troops. Despite this, they move right through the bodies of their fallen fighters. Our defenders show maximum resilience and heroism. Russia is driving thousands of its citizens to slaughter," said Malyar.
According to the deputy minister, the command of the Russian armed forces is strengthening the grouping of troops on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy is moving the mobilized from the training grounds of Belarus and Russia to the combat zones and to the border areas.
The enemy continues to concentrate the main forces in the Donetsk region. The highest activity of the enemy is noted in the Bakhmut, Lyman and Avdiiv directions.
As of January 10, about 280 formations are operating as part of the Russian occupation forces, taking into account the operational reserve. For comparison, about 250 formations were active last week. The situation in the areas of hostilities remains difficult. In the absence of the required number of technically ready military equipment, the Kremlin is actively using human resources, Malyar noted.
Thanks to the coordinated work of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces, gunners and rocket launchers, more than a hundred Russian invaders were destroyed in the Soledar area of the Donetsk region.
