The Ukrainian military should begin training with the Patriot missile system in the United States as early as next week, two American officials briefed on the matter told CNN.
According to CNN, the training program will take place at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, where the US conducts its own training on the operation and maintenance of an advanced air defense system.
Fort Sill is one of the Army's four major training centers and home to the Field Artillery School, which has trained service members for more than a century.
According to Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Laura Cooper, it is expected that training Ukrainians in the complex system will take "several months".
"I can't give you a specific timeline for graduation," Cooper said Friday.
