The ruling party of Georgia "Georgian Dream" reacted to the statement of the temporary charge d'affaires of Ukraine Andriy Kasyanov that Kyiv asked Tbilisi to hand over the Buk complexes provided to Georgia by Ukraine during the 2008 war, but was refused.

The comments of politicians are given by the Georgian publication SOVA.

According to Givi Mikanadze, a member of the parliamentary majority, the anti-aircraft missile systems were not handed over for free.

"I don't know what Ukraine transferred to us after the 2008 war, as far as I know, if something was transferred, it was bought. So if it was bought, it is Georgian property and Georgian weapons," Mikanadze said.

At the same time, he emphasized that this could be "another attempt to somehow involve Georgia in this war."

A member of the ruling party, Giya Volsky, called Andrii Kasyanov "inadequate" and also added that money was paid for all the weapons that Georgia has at its disposal.

"First of all, Kasyanov's statement is inadequate in relation to the situation in 2008. Billions were paid for military equipment, and in general, what he calls help to Georgia was received in exchange for certain amounts... As for the inadequacy of the statement, it is not surprising that this characterizes some officials, but I think that Kasyanov himself is inadequate in his actions, and as a person he should be evaluated in this way," said Volskyi.

The Georgian deputy claims that Ukraine not only formed a request for the transfer of weapons, but also allegedly for an organized dispatch of volunteers. "They even sent planes, charter flights from Ukraine, but we did not agree to that, because it would be tantamount to entering the war," said Volskyi.

We will remind, in an article on the EP website, Kasyanov said that Kyiv asked to transfer the Buk complexes, which were transferred by Ukraine to Georgia during the 2008 war. Ukraine's request also included the Javelin anti-tank systems transferred to Georgia by the United States. But, according to Kasyanov, the Georgian government refused to provide assistance.

He assured that despite the refusal, Ukraine opposes the use of this issue in internal political disputes and rejects any accusations of attempts to draw Georgia into a war with the Russian Federation.
