Shmyhal warned of possible power outages

Ukrainians should be ready to restore emergency power outages. Because the Russians can launch new missile strikes on civilian and energy infrastructure. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the government meeting.

"Russia continues to attack our energy sector. Within 5 days of the new year, the enemy carried out two drone attacks, as a result of which generation facilities and main networks were damaged. The energy sector in the east and south was also shelled," Shmyhal noted.

At the same time, he noted that the warm weather and holidays led to a decrease in consumption, which allowed us not to apply blackouts during the New Year holidays. However, already yesterday, January 5, consumption increased.

"That's why planned shutdown schedules were introduced in the central and eastern regions, as well as in Odesa, Lviv, and Dnipro," Shmyhal explained.

He reminded that a significant cooling is expected from today. Accordingly, consumption will increase and the deficit in the energy system will increase.

"In addition, the enemy is ready to launch another missile attack on civilian and energy infrastructure. Therefore, we must all be ready to restore emergency shutdowns," Shmyhal warned.
