The Dormition Cathedral and the Tabernacle Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra were returned to state management

Today, January 5, the Assumption Cathedral and the Tabernacle Church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which were used by the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, were returned to state management.

This was announced by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.

He noted that these two religious buildings were given to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for free temporary use since 2016 in accordance with the contract, which expired on December 31, 2022.

According to Tkachenko, the commission for acceptance and transfer started its work on January 2, it was engaged in the inventory of property, as well as drawing up the act of technical inspection of two buildings. She provided a comprehensive description of the property of the Assumption Cathedral and the Tabernacle Church, the condition of iconostases and icons, other property that cannot be separated from religious buildings, in order to return it to the balance-keeper.

According to the results of the work, the corresponding Act of return of the buildings was signed by the UOC.

Tkachenko noted that Metropolitan Pavlo, who was supposed to sign the Act, did not appear at the last meeting of the commission. However, this prevents the return of state property. The absence of the Metropolitan was recorded by the members of the Commission, and the Acts themselves, which were signed by the Reserve, were sent to the other party for perusal.
