The use of a joint Russian-Belarusian grouping of troops in the war against Ukraine is possible in the event of "the use of military force directed against any participating state" of the Union Treaty of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
Thus, in an interview with the Russian mass media, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mykhailo Galuzin commented on the possible participation of the group in the war against Ukraine.
"The task of the joint Russian-Belarusian group of troops - if necessary, to repulse a potential adversary in the event of an invasion of the territory of our ally Belarus. At the same time, raising the question about the possibility of involving this group in the course of a special military operation in Ukraine is incorrect," he said.
"The current military doctrine of the Union State provides that the use of military force directed against any participating state is considered an encroachment on the Union State as a whole. Taking appropriate measures in such a case remains at the discretion of the political and military leadership of Russia and Belarus," - added the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
We will remind, according to the statements of the Russian side, nine thousand Russian soldiers, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and artillery are stationed in Belarus.
