North Korea on Friday denied media reports that it had recently sent weapons to Russia.
This is reported by CNN.
Japan's Tokyo Shimbun reported on Thursday that North Korea had shipped ammunition to Russia by rail last month, citing an unnamed source familiar with the situation in the country.
"The Japanese media's false report that North Korea has offered ammunition to Russia is an absurdity that is not worthy of any comment or interpretation," the North Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
An agreement on the sale of weapons between Russia and North Korea "never existed", added the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Additional supplies and weapons are expected to be delivered from North Korea to Russia in the coming weeks, the Tokyo Shimbun newspaper reported, citing its source.
Pyongyang's statement came after a high-ranking US official said that Wagner PMC, which is involved in the war in Ukraine, had accepted a shipment of weapons from North Korea last month.
Last month, North Korea denied claims by US officials that Kim Jong Un's regime was supplying Russia with a "significant" number of artillery shells.
