Negotiations on peace in Ukraine are unlikely to be possible in the near future, the military confrontation is likely to continue. This was emphasized by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at a briefing.
I am not optimistic about the possibility of effective peace negotiations in the near future. we are concentrating our efforts on other aspects of the situation - increasing the effectiveness of the grain agreement, adding new components to it, namely the export of ammonia. We are also interested in speeding up the exchange of prisoners," Guterres said.
He also emphasized that the end of the conflict can be achieved in 2023.
"When I said that I do not see opportunities for peace negotiations in the near future, I did not mean the whole of 2023. I really hope that in 2023 we will be able to achieve peace in Ukraine," the UN Secretary General added.
