Former Minister of Education and Professor of Chemistry Mykola Denkov will be nominated as a candidate for Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
This was announced by the country's second largest political party, "We continue the changes", writes Euractiv.
On Wednesday, the GERB party of former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov failed to form a government. The attempt by the We Continue Change party is also likely to fail.
The pro-European liberal party has announced that there will be serious negotiations for support only with the Democratic Bulgaria party, but the votes of these two political forces are not enough for a successful vote in the parliament.
"The goal is to see what can unite us. Those who are ready to support such a government must undertake that they will work on the implementation of the policy that we have defined," Denkov said.
Denkov is a supporter of the liberal reform of Bulgarian education. He has been Minister of Education in three interim and one permanent government, but has no experience in other areas.
Bulgaria has been in a severe political crisis for almost two years. There is a risk that Bulgarians will be forced to vote in a fifth general election in the spring of 2023 due to conflicts between the main political players.
