Almost 8 million Ukrainians left abroad due to Russia's attack on Ukraine - this is 20% of the actual population of the country. This was stated by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubynets, during a report at the "Ukraine-Ukrinform" media center on December 14.

"7 million 900 thousand people left the country, seeking asylum abroad - this is 20% of the actual population of our entire state. 4 million 900 thousand citizens of Ukraine became internally displaced persons within our state, of which 30% are pensioners and persons with disability. In fact, every second family has one or more children," the ombudsman said.

Lubynets added that 13 million citizens of Ukraine remain in the areas of intense hostilities and in the temporarily occupied territory. 46,000 Ukrainians were evacuated from cities and towns on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.
