The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accused the Russian Federation of not fulfilling the agreements in Syria. This is reported by Anadolu.
Erdogan recalled the Sochi agreements of 2019, according to which the Russian side assumed responsibility for clearing certain areas of Syria from terrorists.
"Unfortunately, despite repeated reminders from the Turkish side, these obligations have not been fulfilled. They don't do it, they can't do it. In response, we declare that in case of failure to fulfill the agreements, we will take the necessary steps against the terrorists. This is the reason for the attacks on 12 terrorist targets in Koban, Syria, the day before. This is part of the operations that will continue," Erdogan said.
On November 20, the media reported that Turkish aircraft had struck Kurdish bases in Syria and northern Iraq. Also, a column of military equipment of the Turkish armed forces entered Syria.
The Ministry of National Defense of Turkey announced the start of an "anti-terrorist air operation". The department announced a "time of reckoning" for "treacherous attacks by scoundrels" and noted that the strikes were targeting the positions of the Kurds, which Ankara recognizes as terrorists.
