Szijarto is flying to Sochi for a forum organized by Rosatom

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijarto, flew to Sochi, Russia, on the night of Monday to take part in the Atomexpo event.

Szijarto wrote about this on his Facebook page.

"The night is far from over, but we have to go. In the morning I have a meeting in Sochi. Atomexpo is one of the most important meetings of the nuclear industry. In the conditions of the global energy crisis, it is unprecedentedly important for the country to be able to produce the necessary amount of energy. Paksh Nuclear Power Plant "plays a key role in our energy security," he wrote shortly before 4 a.m. at the Budapest airport.

Szijarto previously said that Hungary would not support any European Union sanctions against Russia that could cut off nuclear energy supplies.

State-controlled Russian nuclear giant Rosatom has signed a contract to build a new reactor in Hungary, which is expected to be operational by 2030.

Rosatom is the organizer of the Atomexpo forum, which will be held on November 21-22.
