Duda: the missile incident is not an attack on Poland

Polish President Andrzej Duda said Tuesday night's explosions in eastern Poland were an accident and Warsaw does not consider the rocket incident an attack on the country.

Duda said this on Wednesday, reports TVN24.

"It was not an attack on Poland, we have no evidence that the missile was launched by Russia," President Andrzej Duda said, referring to the blasts that killed two people.

He added that an S-300 type missile fell on Poland and that it was probably a missile "used by Ukrainian forces" who repelled Russian missile attacks yesterday.

According to Duda, a preliminary examination of the scene shows that it was the result of a falling rocket, possibly with the explosion of the remaining fuel.

The President of Poland emphasized that Russia is to blame for this tragedy.

The collected evidence, as well as American data, show that it was an accident, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki added.

He noted that at this stage the activation of Article 4 may not be necessary, "but this tool is at our disposal."

Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Geger said that representatives of NATO member states at a meeting on Wednesday will most likely discuss a request to strengthen air defense on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
