The Armed Forces can continue the counteroffensive in the winter - ISW

Winter weather can take a heavy toll on ill-equipped Russian forces in Ukraine, but a well-equipped UDF is unlikely to stop a counteroffensive.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Analysts write that Ukrainian forces can take advantage of the frozen terrain to move more easily than they could in the muddy autumn months.

"If the fighting stops this winter, it will be due to logistical problems and the culmination of several campaigns on both sides. Russian campaigns to seize five regions ended several months ago and Russian troops are firmly on the defensive along most of the front line," analysts say. .

Ukraine has the initiative and is in the process of securing a great victory in Kherson. The ceasefire would give the Kremlin the pause it desperately needs to rebuild Russian forces.

The great Ukrainian victory, which is ongoing in the Kherson region, will not be the last, experts believe.

Ukrainian military officials and social media sources confirm that over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces have made advances to the northwest, west, and northeast of the city of Kherson and advanced up to 7 km in some areas.

So far, the Russians are withdrawing in an organized manner, and the Ukrainian troops are achieving the expected successes, without defeating the Russian forces, as was the case during the Kharkiv counteroffensive.

Ukrainian strikes since August have successfully destroyed Russian supply lines on the right bank, forcing Russian forces to retreat and allowing the liberation of Kherson Oblast to the Dnipro River in the coming days or weeks.

"The withdrawal of Russian troops will take some time, and fighting will continue throughout the Kherson region, as Ukrainian troops advance and face pre-prepared Russian defense lines, especially around the city of Kherson," ISW analysts emphasize.
