During the war, the officially registered unemployed who cannot find a job within 30 days will be engaged in community service for a salary not lower than the minimum wage. This decision was previously adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers and is already being implemented in two regions.
As noted by the Ministry of Economy, a person has the right to refuse the proposed socially useful work, because according to Article 43 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the use of forced labor is prohibited.
However, during martial law, such a refusal will mean the termination of registration at the employment center and the cancellation of unemployment benefits.
As noted by the Ministry of Economy, when engaging in socially useful works, it is often not always about hard physical labor - workers are involved, for example, in weaving camouflage nets, packing humanitarian aid, preparing food for the military, etc. As for the salaries of such employees, they do not necessarily have to be minimal - they can be increased with funds from regional budgets.
