Pope Francis called on the leaders, in particular of the religious community, to prevent a new "cold war". According to him, the world is on the edge of an abyss. This is reported by CNN.
During a conference in Bahrain, Francis said that after two World Wars, the Cold War and catastrophic conflicts, the world continues to be "on the edge of the abyss".
"It is a striking paradox that while the majority of the world's population is united in the face of the same difficulties, suffering from severe food, environmental and pandemic crises, as well as from increasingly scandalous global injustices, a few of the world's powerhouses are involved in determined fight for party interests, reviving outdated rhetoric, redistributing spheres of influence and opposing blocs," the Pope said.
Francis called on religious leaders to contribute to the fight against rearmament.
