When Russia can be ready for an offensive from Belarus: assessment of the General Staff

Russian troops can form a group for an offensive from Belarus no earlier than in 2-3 months. So this is not expected in the coming weeks.

This was announced by the Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksiy Gromov, during a briefing.

So, to the journalist's question, if the current dynamics of the transfer of Russian troops continues, how many weeks will it take for a group to appear there that could hypothetically threaten Ukraine during a repeated attack, he replied that this is not expected in the coming weeks.

"Regarding the transfer of the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, primarily at the moment the transfer of servicemen is carried out mainly at the expense of the mobilized," Gromov said.

He explained that for the group's readiness, it is necessary to train servicemen, coordinate them as part of units, and plan and define some tasks.

"In the coming weeks, this (readiness for a repeated attack - ed.) is not expected. We expect that it may not be earlier than in 2-3 months," Gromov suggests.

We will remind, during the briefing, Gromov also said that the joint deployment of the troops of the Russian Federation and Belarus is currently aimed at diverting attention and pulling the Armed Forces from the east and south.

However, in the future there is a threat of the formation of a group for direct aggression against Ukraine.

At the same time, he noted that although Russia continues to transfer forces to Belarus, the situation remains under control and currently it has no effect on the hostilities in Ukraine.
