Serbia has put the army on high alert due to the situation in Kosovo

The troops of Serbia are put on high alert due to the situation in Kosovo.

According to Vecernje Novosti, Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic said this.

"The President of Serbia, as the supreme commander, has ordered the Serbian army to be on combat readiness in connection with the situation in Kosovo, that is, to raise the level of combat readiness to such a level that it can respond to any task," said Vucevic.

"Of course, no one wants conflicts and wars, and no one thinks of playing such games. Serbia is a serious country and takes all steps to be able to respond to every difficult situation, i.e. every potential problem," he emphasized. minister.

He added that Serbia cannot relax, but it is in favor of dialogue.

He stated that the army is ready to carry out Vucic's every order, protecting all citizens of Serbia, including Serbs in Kosovo, "and no one should doubt that."

"Serbia is for dialogue. It is better to negotiate for a thousand days than to be in a trench or a trench for one day," said Vucevic.

On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the Kosovo police issued the first warning to vehicles that were not re-registered from Serbian license plates to Republic of Kosovo license plates.

From November 1, Kosovo planned to introduce mandatory re-registration of all car numbers to their own. This decision affects Kosovo Serbs who still use Serbian license plates and thus travel across the administrative border with Serbia.

However, the Kosovo authorities succumbed to international pressure and softened their decision to avoid unrest among the Serbian minority over the issue.

After a meeting on Friday with the ambassadors of the US and four European countries - France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom - Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said the authorities had decided it was "better" to offer other options.

In particular, in the first three weeks of November, only reprimands or warnings will be issued to owners of vehicles with illegal license plates.

For the next two months, they will be fined, and for another three months, until April 21, the so-called trial numbers will be in effect.

"After April 21, there will be no trial number plates, because there can be no other number plates in the Republic of Kosovo," Kurti added.
