Baykar plans to complete the plant in Ukraine in two years

The Turkish defense company "Baykar" plans to complete the construction of its plant in Ukraine in two years. This was stated by the executive director Haluk Bayraktar in a comment to Reuters.

"Our plan is moving forward. We now have an architectural design. The detailed design stage is complete and we will actually start construction. (...) Within two years, we would like to finish it," Haluk Bayraktar said.

He added that construction continues as planned, despite Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

As noted, the drones provided by Baykar to Ukraine played an important role in protecting against Russian armored vehicles and anti-aircraft systems during the first few weeks of the full-scale invasion.

Ukraine now occupies an important place in Baykar's supply chain, as the engines for the Akinci heavy drone and the Kizilelma unmanned fighter are produced at the Ukrainian factories "Motor Sich" and "Ivchenko-Progress".

The Turkish company Baykar plans to build in Ukraine not only a factory for the production of Bayraktar TB2 attack drones, but also a research center.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, Vasyl Bodnar, reported that the Bayraktar drone production plant could be launched in Ukraine as early as the end of 2023.
