Russian dictator Putin continues to reject the idea of Ukrainian sovereignty, which is incompatible with negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, and also aims to destroy the Ukrainian state. This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Putin said that "the only real guarantee of Ukrainian sovereignty can be only Russia", which, according to him, "created" Ukraine.
"Putin's statements reject the legal fact that Ukraine is a fully sovereign state, that the Russian Federation has recognized the sovereignty of Ukraine, and that the Ukrainian people exist as a separate nation," ISW notes.
Putin's perpetuation of the narrative that "Ukraine and Russia are a single people, divided into different states by arbitrary historical circumstances," testifies to his constant goal to destroy the Ukrainian state and erase the concept of the Ukrainian people, the experts of the Institute add.
