Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported that from October 10 to 20, more than 400 objects in 16 regions of Ukraine were damaged as a result of shelling by the Russian occupiers.
"The Russian army has identified our energy sector as one of the key targets of its attacks. Attacks on generation, that is, facilities that produce electricity. Attacks on electricity distribution systems, that is, power transmission lines, thanks to which each of us has light at home. From 10 to 20 As a result of shelling in October, more than 400 objects in 16 regions of our country were damaged, including dozens of energy objects," Shmyhal said at the government meeting on Friday.
Also, according to the Prime Minister, parallel to this, Ukrainian energy facilities are under constant cyber attacks.
"Our task is to prevent this. Despite the fact that the energy infrastructure has been hit for more than a week, the situation remains difficult but under control. We have significantly increased the number of repair crews. Additional repair equipment has been purchased and is stored in secure locations. Partner countries are constantly provide the necessary assistance," he said.
In particular, Shmyhal talked about $55 million from the USA for the repair and maintenance of gas pipes, as well as the provision of electric generators, alternative sources of fuel for social infrastructure, as well as about EUR70 million from the Netherlands, as well as about Denmark's assistance in passing the heating season of the Mykolaiv region.
"There are preliminary agreements with Norway and Great Britain on the supply of gas, especially in case of critical need in winter. The EU and Canada are also joining in to help. Distribution system operators from Belgium, Poland, Germany, Italy and other countries transfer generators, transformer equipment to our Ukrenergo ", he said.
The Prime Minister reported that almost all territories controlled by Ukraine are provided with electricity.
"Now 99% of settlements where there is no light on a permanent basis are either occupied territories or settlements in the immediate vicinity of the combat zone, and there are no opportunities to make repairs there," Shmyhal stated.
