The effectiveness of the air defense system of Ukraine is 64%, 81 of the 126 missiles used by Russia in Ukraine were destroyed, said the deputy chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov.
"The effectiveness of our air defense system remains at a fairly high level - 64%, and that is 81 missiles out of 126 used were destroyed," Gromov said at a briefing at the Military Media Center on Thursday.
He noted that in view of gaining experience and receiving new samples of portable anti-aircraft missile systems during the last week, the efficiency of the air defense system of Ukraine has increased significantly.
The representative of the General Staff emphasized that the analysis of the nature of the enemy's use of missile weapons over the past period shows a sharp and significant increase in its intensity.
"Yes, since October 10, the enemy has launched 154 rockets on the territory of Ukraine, which is almost 7 times more than in the first decade of the month. In the first decade, 21 rockets were launched," he informed.
Air-based cruise missiles became the main type of missile weapons used by the enemy during the past period, and during the previous period, the use of these missiles was not noted at all, Gromov added.
"The number of missiles used - 83 units - exceeded the number of missiles of these types used during 4 months: during June, July, August and September. Only 43 missiles were used during that period," he noted.
Gromov added that almost a third - 29% of the missiles used - were sea-based cruise missiles of the Kalibr type, which were also not used during the previous period. The enemy also increased the intensity of the use of land-based cruise missiles, using 8 missiles, while in the previous period, they used only 1 missile on the territory of Ukraine.
"The analysis of the nature of the enemy's use of Shahed 136 kamikaze drones over the past period also shows a sharp increase in its intensity. Since October 10, the enemy has used 176 unmanned aerial vehicles against objects on the territory of Ukraine, which is 2.5 times more than in the previous decade ", - he said.
Gromov added that of the unmanned aerial vehicles used by the enemy in the last week, 65 drones were probably aimed at objects in the city of Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
"Almost half of them - 27 units - were released from the territory of the Republic of Belarus," he added.
