The scale of attacks carried out by Russian troops on energy facilities in Ukraine during the autumn-winter period of 2022/2023 turned out to be greater than expected, according to the executive director of DPEK Dmytro Sakharuk.
"We are entering a very difficult period for which we were preparing, but we still did not expect such large-scale attacks and destruction," Sakharuk said in comments to journalists in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The top manager of DTEK noted that over the past three weeks, the number of the company's TPP power units in operation has decreased by a quarter, mainly due to damage to TPP facilities and equipment caused by Russian strikes.
According to him, the current state of energy supply on the territory of Ukraine will depend on how quickly energy workers will be able to restore damaged facilities.
"We are doing everything possible and more to return the objects to work as soon as possible," he assured.
At the same time, Sakharuk drew attention to the fact that the recovery process is quite complicated, requiring the necessary "safety margin" from emergency equipment and money.
"This issue requires, among other things, a decision at the state level, whether these are targeted budget programs, the creation of certain conditions in the market capable of stabilizing the financial situation of both generation and distribution system operators, who increasingly have to deal with the consequences of hostile strikes." - explained the top manager of DTEK
According to him, the estimate of the destruction of the company's facilities as a result of shelling "soon will be calculated in billions of hryvnias."
