The Russian Federation cannot destroy Ukraine's power grids because it lacks cruise missiles and Iranian kamikaze drones cannot replace them. This was reported by Sky News, citing Western officials.
In particular, the West believes that the lack of high-precision, long-range missiles prevents Russia from implementing its plans. And the depleted reserves force it to increasingly use Iranian-made Shahed drones.
But kamikaze drones proved to be an ineffective substitute, as they carry a relatively small amount of explosives.
"It's becoming increasingly clear that Russia has a deliberate strategy to disrupt Ukraine's power grid. But they fly quite slowly, so they're much easier to shoot down with small arms and other systems. The tactic is to use them en masse in the hope that one of them will break through." - noted one of the Western officials on condition of anonymity.
According to him, Russia's ability to strike with precision weapons is reaching a point where such a strategy becomes unsustainable.
