The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Peter Szijarto, announced that he did not vote for the creation of an EU training mission for the Ukrainian military. He said this after the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU on Monday.
"Hungary also did not vote for this proposal, we used the option of constructive stay, that is, we do not prevent the launch of such a mission, but we do not participate in it. We do not host it, we do not participate in it and we also do not participate in its costs ". "We don't think it's a good idea that could lead to an escalation of the war with the risk of drawing Europe into the conflict," Sijarto said.
According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, some EU leaders do not want to recognize the reality.
"I don't know where they live when they talk about the success of sanctions. The end of the war is not in sight, but the European economy is already suffering. The exact opposite of what we were promised when we voted for sanctions is happening, that is, the sanctions policy has failed. It was also said that the ninth package of sanctions is needed, where they want to include nuclear energy, but I immediately said clearly: Hungary will not support any sanctions," Szijarto added.
