Two associations filed a complaint against the French energy giant TotalEnergies for "complicity in war crimes". The company is accused of allegedly helping fuel Russian military aircraft, according to French media reports, France 24 reports.

As reported, in particular, Le Monde and AFP, the French Darwin Climax Coalition and the Ukrainian band Razom We Stand on Thursday handed over the case materials to the French prosecutor, who is investigating allegations of war crimes.

In a statement to Le Monde, TotalEnergies reportedly rejected the allegations, calling them "outrageous and defamatory".

Until recently, TotalEnergies owned a 49% stake in Ternaftogaz, a company that produces gas in the Thermokarst field in northern Russia. Another 51% belonged to the Russian company Novatek, in which the French firm also owns a 19.4% stake, the publication writes.
