Bulgaria's counterintelligence service is investigating Russian claims that the truck that exploded on the Crimean bridge came from that country.
"European Truth" writes about it.
The investigation began by order of acting of Prime Minister Galab Donev immediately after the Kremlin made this information public. The special services also informed the Bulgarian prosecutor's office.
"Inspections are carried out by the State Agency for National Security (SANS) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs," said the government's press secretary, Anton Kutev.
On Sunday, the head of Russia's Investigative Committee Oleksandr Bastrykin said at a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation that the route of the truck that blew up the Crimean bridge started in Bulgaria and then passed through Georgia, Armenia, North Ossetia and the Krasnodar Territory.
In turn, the press secretary of the European Commission, Peter Stano, called Bastrykin's words unreliable.
"We have no way to find out what happened on Saturday on the bridge, what led to the explosion, what the reasons are. You know how reliable many so-called "investigations" are in Russia. I wouldn't trust what they say," said he.
Stano reminded that Crimea is part of Ukraine, and the Kerch bridge is an illegal object.
Former Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who won the last election and is trying to form a coalition, commented on the term "Bulgarian trail" as distasteful, explaining that it could not be that the explosives were loaded in Bulgaria, because there is no way to cross with it border.
"If I were in the place of the Russian services, I would be more interested in where the truck was loaded and what caused the explosion. This is the most important thing... Now during the war, everyone is trying to reduce the tension," Borisov added.
The leader of the "We continue the changes" party, the former Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kyril Petkov called on the interim government to reject the Kremlin's hints about the Bulgarian footprint in the undermining of the Crimean bridge.
"We do not agree with the fear-mongering and panic-mongering by the Kremlin and the involvement of Bulgaria in the events related to the Crimean bridge. We call on the Bulgarian authorities and the interim government to immediately investigate this case and reject the Kremlin's insinuations about the Bulgarian connection with this event. Time is not waiting," said Petkov.
