The explosion on the Crimean bridge, the failures of the Russian military and problems with mobilization caused direct criticism of Russian President Vladimir Putin from supporters of radical actions against Ukraine.
This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
According to analysts, military correspondents have criticized Putin and the Kremlin for failing to respond directly to major developments, noting that it is difficult to rally around a president when his government relies on secrecy.
Others noted that Putin has consistently ignored a number of failures in the war, including the sinking of the cruiser Moskva.
Some supporters of the continuation of the war have said that Putin must avenge the bombing of the bridge over the Kerch Strait or his silence will be seen as "weakness".
They also criticized the silence of the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, after the explosion on the bridge. Earlier, he stated that the attack on the Crimean bridge would be a "red line".
Criticism from the pro-war camp could indicate growing doubts about Putin's ability to fulfill his promised goal of the so-called "denazification" of Ukraine and could undermine his appeal among his core electorate, experts write.
At the same time, Putin continues to reshuffle his senior military commanders, likely to exonerate himself and revive enthusiasm in the extremist military community.
Analysts say that reshuffle of senior commanders will not solve the systemic problems that have hampered Russian operations, logistics, defense industry and mobilization since the beginning of the invasion.
The scapegoats can only deflect criticism from Putin for a while, and the emergence of direct criticism of the leadership among his most loyal hard-liners is likely a harbinger of discontent to come. Escalation, conventional or nuclear, cannot solve Putin's problems, particularly in Ukraine.
