During her visit to Ukraine, the head of the defense committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, again called for the supply of western battle tanks and armored personnel carriers to Ukraine.

This was reported by the newspaper Bild, citing the DPA agency.

"The will to defend our country is unwavering. But Ukraine, as before, needs our support to survive the winter. This applies primarily to ammunition, as well as the delivery of armored personnel carriers or battle tanks to push back Russian positions," Strack-Zimmermann said.

The head of the defense committee of the German parliament arrived in Ukraine on Thursday. She is one of those who, in the ranks of the ruling coalition, repeatedly and earnestly called for the strengthening of military support for Ukraine, including the supply of combat tanks.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz explained that his country is already helping Ukraine sufficiently with weapons, and the decision to hand over tanks will be made only in coordination with allies.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that Germany should independently decide on the transfer of battle tanks and other armored vehicles to Ukraine, and not focus on other states, such as the United States.
