The US ambassador repeated Washington's position that Ukraine will determine the contours of its victory and the time and format of negotiations with Russia on its own.
She said this in an interview with "European Truth".
Brigitte Brink was asked about what was the reason for State Secretary Anthony Blinken's last visit to Kyiv, because officials of this level do not make visits without a specific important purpose.
"He said both publicly and at closed meetings that the main purpose of the visit is to convey that President Biden undeniably supports Ukraine," the ambassador replied.
To the question of how the war should end and whether there should be negotiations at the end, Brigitte Brink answered that it will be decided by Ukraine.
"We have said more than once, and the State Secretary has also confirmed it here - the democratically elected leader of Ukraine must decide when the negotiations will begin, how they will proceed, and what constitutes victory... The goal of our policy is a sovereign, democratic and prosperous Ukraine, capable of defending itself and deter Russian aggression. To this end, we support Ukraine's ability to make decisions about its future," said Brigitte Brink.
The ambassador also hinted that the US administration and partners are discussing a response plan in case Russia takes radical steps, such as the use of tactical nuclear weapons.
