As a result of the war, almost a third of Ukraine's forests were damaged - Ministry of Environment

As a result of the full-scale invasion of Russia, almost a third of the forest lands of Ukraine were damaged, and the losses amount to approximately 16 billion hryvnias. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ruslan Strilets, told about this on the air of the telethon.

"As a result of the war, almost a third of all forest lands of Ukraine were damaged. During the seven months of the war, combat operations were carried out on an area of almost 3 million hectares of forest. About 450,000 hectares of forest are still under occupation. The total damage to the forest fund that we have calculated is as of today almost 16 billion hryvnias. This amount concerns only the territories that have already been liberated, so this figure will grow as the deoccupation progresses," said Strelets.
