If Ukraine refuses to fight, it will cease to exist, - NATO Secretary General

If Ukraine stops fighting, it will cease to exist as an independent state.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, speaking in Brussels.

"If President Putin and Russia stop fighting, we will have peace. If Ukraine stops fighting, it will cease to exist as an independent state. Therefore, we need to continue to provide it with comprehensive support," the NATO Secretary General stressed.

He also assured that NATO intends to supply Kyiv with weapons in the long term.

"We will support Ukraine in the long term and help Ukraine transition from Soviet weapons to weapons made according to our standards," Stoltenberg added.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the war in Ukraine is approaching a turning point. The Secretary General also appealed to the public in Western countries to keep faith in the efforts of Ukraine and other countries.

We will remind that the current Jens Stoltenberg has been the head of the Alliance since 2014, he was supposed to leave this position in the fall of this year, but his mandate was extended for another year (until September 30, 2023) against the background of a full-scale war in Ukraine. He may be replaced by Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Khrystia Freeland.
