The total area of the territory returned to the control of Ukraine in the Kharkiv and Yuzhno-Buz directions is more than 700 square kilometers, said Oleksiy Gromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The grouping of the defense forces continues to conduct active actions in the Kherson direction as well. Battles are taking place with the aim of improving the situation along the front line. The enemy is partially demoralized, but continues to resist. In general, our units in certain directions advanced deep into the enemy's defenses from 2 to several tens of kilometers. Released a number of settlements. The total area of the territory returned to the control of Ukraine in the Kharkiv and Yuzhno-Buz directions is more than 700 square km," Gromov said at a briefing in the Military media center on Thursday.
According to him, as part of the defense operation in the Kharkiv direction with the aim of restoring the lost territories, since the beginning of the week the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with units of the National Guard and other security forces, have been conducting active actions in certain directions.
"Currently, military units have penetrated the enemy's defense to a depth of up to 50 km... In the course of conducting active operations in the Kharkiv direction, more than 20 settlements have been liberated," Gromov emphasized.
He noted that in the Kramatorsk direction, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced to a depth of 2 km, while conducting offensive operations in the Slavyansk direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine advanced to a depth of 3 km and liberated the village of Ozerne.
